HUD’s Office of Housing Counseling has issued Revision 7 of the HECM (Home Equity Conversion Mortgage) Counseling Protocol, effective May 1, 2026. Housing Counselors who provide reverse mortgage counseling should review the updated protocol thoroughly prior to the effective date to ensure full compliance.
