HUD’s Office of Housing Counseling continues to work diligently to restore full administration of the Housing Counselor Certification Exam. We appreciate your continued patience.
Please note: The HECM Counselor Certification Exam remains fully operational and is not affected by this temporary disruption. Candidates seeking HECM Counselor Certification may continue to schedule and take the HECM examination.
We recognize the inconvenience this disruption has caused agencies and counselors, particularly those who have been preparing for or scheduled to take the certification exam.
Until the Housing Counselor Certification Exam is restored, we recommend the following:
Students who have not received a cancellation notice should continue to monitor their email for updates regarding their scheduled appointment. If their appointment remains on the testing provider’s schedule, they should plan to attend unless notified otherwise.
Students who have received a cancellation notice do not need to take any additional action regarding the canceled appointment. Refunds are being processed by the testing provider. Once exam administration resumes, counselors will need to schedule a new examination appointment.
Both in-person and online examinations may continue to be affected during this transition, depending on scheduling and testing provider availability.
Students should retain any cancellation or refund notifications for their records.
