Overview

This course will equip counselors with advanced skills and knowledge to become highly efficient at evaluating their clients’ affordability by analyzing their income, credit, debts, and ability to sustain their home, as well as the rental units in purchasing a residential multi-family property. Counselors will gain experience in preparing their clients for the responsibilities of being new homeowners and landlords, including financing options, property maintenance, vacancies, compliance, and available tools and resources for effectively managing their rental units while complying with local, state, and federal requirements. Through interactive scenarios, participants will learn about and understand the risks and responsibilities involved in the business of being a homeowner and landlord and learn proven ways to help their clients handle them successfully.

This Pre-Purchase counseling training for multi-family residential property online course is designed for HUD approved counseling agencies and partnering HBCU’s interested in learning the skills clients will need to effectively manage their rental units and meet their obligations as landlords while observing federal, state and local laws and regulations. To be eligible for the full tuition scholarship you must be employed by a HUD approved counseling agency when you register. After completing the registration form, your will receive a confirmation message.
